...then two turn up at once
009 chassis kits model-railways narrow-gauge new-productsContinuing with “Unofficial Outside Frame Chassis Week” it was announced at the N Gauge Society AGM at the weekend that Graham Farish will be releasing an all-new class 08 model with… outside frames. This replaces the previous generation version which was withdrawn last year, and hopefully will fit inside the same 009 kits that used the old one.
Virtually simultaneously, Neville Kent of N-Drive Productions got in touch to say that he is also working on an outside framed replacement chassis for the class 08.
This is a development of the ready-to-run chassis system originally intended for 009 kits that require no-longer-available N gauge mechanisms such as the Ibertren Cuckoo and Bachmann 0-4-0. The specification will be 8.5mm wheels fitted with cranks, connecting rods and outside frames with class 08 spring detail. It can also be ordered with DCC ready wiring, reservations are being taken now and it should be available around July. There should be photos of the test models on the way shortly and I’ll post them here when they arrive.
Alongside this development, the regular 009 outside-framed steam loco version of the N-Drive should be released around the same time.
